Some random photos

Here are some recent photos of our little monster, now getting big and walking EVERYWHERE. It's really quite cute and rather tiring (she loves to get into stuff - especially at the store!)

Bath time remains the favourite time of the day...

Then after bath comes reading a book with daddy!

A classic Lilian silly face. Adorable or what! You can see her big front teeth showing with the 2 either side coming in...it's making taking bites and chewing easier which I am sure she is happy about!

Big smiles for Tante as usual.

It's getting chilly here in Alaska so here is the obligatory winter coat - pink with furry stuff and everything. Aren't you impressed??!!

Tacky self portrait in the car with Lilian pulling a face!

And here is one of the few thousand official 1st year photos we had done....

We had a thanksgiving meal at Oma and Opa's and she had great fun playing with the keyboard. SHe wasn't playing Mozart quite, but it was cute regardless!

Halloween 2007

So it's that time of year again to get dressed up in silly costumes and make a mess carving pumpkins! Sara did a GREAT job in making the kids costumes and we spent the evening laughing at them trying to get around with their big bellies and didn't get much carving done at all! Oh well!

Nathania was most impressively dressed as a skeleton and all I managed was some mouse ears and a bow tie (I had a tail too...)

It was a fun evening hanging out with friends though, and I carved a fake pumpkin using a stencil which is cheating big time! The lads were boring and didn't get dressed up...typical!

Chicago

So Lilian and I braved a 6 hour flight to Chicago to visit James's brother Colin. For some reason he decided to run in the Chicago marathon and we went to support him. While we were there we decided to do some touristy stuff and here are a few pictures!

Lilian trying to get the camera while Tamsin makes, um, an interesting face?

Us in Colin's office. Michigan Avenue (big shopping street) is in the background

Looking down the river. Donald Trump's new tower is being contructed in the distance...not that anyone cares or anything....

Mamma and her baby

We went on a river and lake cruise and this is the city skyline fromLake Michigan

Oh what a suave man that Colin

The day of the race arrives! It's only 90 degrees with a whole ton of humidity...oh well! Colin and his training partner and friend Chris finished the race in just over 4 hours. Pretty amazing really!

Lilian was doused with water regularly to keep her cool. After all we are more used to the Alaksa weather...apparantly it's already snowing back home!!

Lilian decided to help me pack the suitcase as we were preparing to leave. Needless to say I didn't get much done with her around....but she's so cute!

Out for a hike

So we were dragged out for a glorious autumn hike by Storman and Nathania, and here are the obligatory photos....!

You can just make out on this photo Mt Denali in the distance. we were hiking out in Eagle River which is closer to Denali than Anchorage, but it was still a good 250+ mils away. On clear days, especially when it's cold, you have an amazing view of Denali.

Storman and Nathania - and she's not wearing leg warmers...she got hot so unzipped the trouser part and couldn't be bothered to take them all the way off...crazy Dutch girl

Lilian did a great job of putting up being in the back pack for the 3 hours we were out walking. She got a little cold towards the end as you can see by her cute red nose!

Lilian at 10 months

I know I know...MORE pictures of Lilian? well right now she is pretty much the focus of our life seeing that she takes up most of our energy. That and we don't seem to take photos of anyone else but her. Sad, but true. Maybe I can work on photos of the other people and places in our lives!
So here are some obligatory photos of our oh-so-old 10 month old

Mummy made some bread...and she's not too sure about it, after giggling about it!

She loves her touchy feely books and I caught her looking at one all by herself!

Oreo, our lazy cat, caught on camera mid-yawn...

We had a carpet picnic and Lilian decided I needed to eat more greens so fed me lettuce!

Aah look, the family Kurth. Not the greatest protrait but all you're gonna get for now!

Lilian's new face!
Elisha came to visit for the afternoon!

Kelvin and Bec visit July/Aug 2007

So Kelvin and Bec made the treacherous journey to the North of nowhere to visit his big sister and her growing family. Needless to say we were VERY happy to have him and his wifey, especially as there was a bit more of that British accent to keep me company! We did A LOT of touristy fun stuff and here are a few piccies t o prove they actually came!

Here are K and B at Byron Glacier, just up from Portage about an hour from Anchorage...

Look! Snow in August!

Vin went clinbing up on rocks to find the base of the glacier (you can see it on the left of the picture). Bec and I sat and sunbathed at the bottom not willing to risk our necks on big sharp rocks!
Self portrait looking away from the glacier

View across Portage Lake

Not sure if you can tell but these people are actually related....
